What is Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality is an enhanced version of the real physical world through the use of visual elements, sound or other sensory stimuli. In other words, it is an engaging, interactive experience of a real world environment where the objects that reside the real world, are “augmented” by a computer-generated perceptual information.
This application adds elements to a live view often by using a camera on a smartphone or a tablet. It is a particularly popular digital trend among companies for business and marketing applications.
AR Engraving Guide:
An Augmented Reality guide is developed in order to discover in depth the engravings. 10 artworks were selected for their religious as well as artistic significance and via this application, the visitors can get valuable information. For example, the application provides the visitors with information about the artwork creators, the dates and historical and religious descriptions about each of the depicted elements.
There will also be actual photos and videos highlighting the alternation of some of the works over the years, as well as how the paths and monasteries are preserved nowadays.
Finally, the application will include short biographies of the religious depicted icons.
The Purpose and the Benefits:
The thought of bringing the past and modern era in a single one application, enabled the design of this application. The visitors can instantly travel to the origins of the artworks and get to know their religious and historical significance in a more engaging and interactive way. Furthermore, the visitors get the sense of how the landscapes and paths have changed through the years.
